Perspective Final

It's a 2 point drawing I took from a blueprint I made!
Simple but cute, I think!

More Peepers

Salvado Dali
Franz Marc

J.C. Leyendecker

Rembrandt

Van Gogh

David's eye with filtering effects

All except the last eye were painted in photoshop by yours truly. I had a lot of fun painting these, however the Leyendecker eye was really difficult to get so smooth, and it's still not a smooth as it should be.

Final-ish Drake Fight!

I say 'ISH' because I feel like there really wansn't enough time to do everything I wanted to do with this piece and will likely go back to it when I get some free time. Maybe over Christmas! :D

Drakes in Color!

1

2 Desaturated

3 Red

4 Yellow

Okay...I'm really divided on which colors to go with if any of these at all. What do you guys think?

One more value study!

Somewhat of a hybrid between #1 and #3 from my last post!

I think this one is a keeper. May lighten up the dragon a bit more in the color phases.

Tiny Value Studies!

1

2

3

4

So, what I want to know is...WHICH ONE!?

I'm mostly trying to decide between #3 and #4, but I would love to hear what you guys think!

Which is your favorite or would you rather see a hybrid between the two?

Jazzaray City; Perspective Projects

3 Point Downshot © Arden Jenner 2010; ardensart.blogspot.com

5 Point Storefronts © Arden Jenner 2010; ardensart.blogspot.com
So, I finally got around to posting my two most recent projects for Perspective Drawing. The theme of the city was supposed to be reminiscent of New Orleans.

Please pardon the general blue-ness of the images too, I had to go through photoshop to turn the linework blue, but because I had to take a photo, due to my scanner hating my computer, the shadows turned blue too. Blech. Also, this isn't the shaded version I ended up doing, but I like the plain linework better anyhow.

Fight for Honor!

So, for my next Digital Illustration project, I'm thinking about doing a drawing from my sketchbook...

With that in mind, I tried to do some nicer sketches over the week, and this is one that I really like.

What do you guys think?

Comic Strip Finale

So, my technical illustration comic strip is finally complete! The top is in Halftone and the bottom is in color...obviously but not so obviously if you happen to be colorblind.

More artistic goodies will be posted soon! I've got two more Perspective Drawing projects due Thursday, so wish me luck!

Blizzcon 2010!

I had the wonderful opportunity to get into the last day of Blizzcon this past weekend because I have some friends that were working there, and it was the most fun I've had in a REALLY long time. I got to sit and watch a panel on the art of World of Warcraft and watch a demo of some of the concept artists in action!

So, to show my excitement, I'm posting this drawing I did of one of my characters, with the plans of eventually turning it into a fully rendered image!  :D

Also, it eventually will have a background. I was thinking something like a cold, forest cliffside type setting where the characters are looking out on the landscape. Any suggestions, criticisms or comments are welcome!

More Goodies...

Just in case you wanted to know what my eyeball looks like, here ya' go!

Also, here is the line drawing for my technical strip! Yay!

Sorry for the slight fuzziness...for some reason, I've been having a focus battle with my camera lately...maybe I shouldn't have dropped it....and maybe I shouldn't be making this caption so unnecessary.

More Gagging.

Google Maps?

You can purchase and build your very own Narnia!

Shooting star?

So, I got together with some friends and we chatted about some more ideas for this comic thing, and this is what we came up with. They may not follow the rules much, but I felt like it was better than frying my brain and coming up with nothing. Let me know if you think these are any better than the others or which one is your favorite!

P.S. Choose fast because I have to finish it in Sketch Up tomorrow night!

P.P.S. Sorry for the poor photos. :P

Well, It Does Make Me Gag...

Buried Treasure?

Clotheslined!

Okay, you DON'T have to tell me, I know these are kinda fail, but it's pretty much all I've got at this point...I literally have been having nightmares about trying to think of what would work for this project, and these nightmares are also my current reality.

Any feedback on what could make these more funny, more clear, AND follow the proper rules of the punchline, would be fantastic seeing as this has fried my brain to the point that I can't even think of ideas for what to draw in my sketchbook; leaving me a WEEK behind.

Leave it to me to think TOO hard. :P

The Map of Arden

What a Week!

So, I've had quite a bit of work due this week, thought I'd post what I've been up to in my Perspective class!

Map and Swatches

The map is a bit sloppy, but it still conveys my basic idea. Let me know what you guys think!

A More Literal Me.

This was actually easier than I thought, though my crazy, wavy hair needs serious help.
The thing that I discovered while doing this is that I have ZERO brushes in Illustrator, which is why I couldn't exactly use a nice ink stroke or something to get the details of the hair.

Of course it is also quite possible that, due to my complete lack of knowledge in this program, I missed it entirely.

Huzzah for feeling totally dumb.

P.S. - I love hats in case you couldn't guess that. Yay hats!

This was the final for Descriptive Drawing which I had in Spring '10. It was rendered in colored pencil.

Too Many Self-Portraits

Descriptive Drawing, Spring 2010. Colored pencil

This actually turned out looking pretty good when I ran it through photoshop, though it doesn't look that great in reality. It still needs a lot of work and practice, but I figured I'd post it anyway.

Ever Have Dreams Where You're Flying?

 Descriptive Drawing; Spring 2010
The rules for the project were that you must have a reflective surface, and you must have an image that tells a story. Yay for storytelling! I must say that this is probably my most favorite creation thus far in my education.

SPOOK, Get Down!

First project for Descriptive Drawing; Spring 2010.

This is a drawing I did of my cat Spook. He's hairless if you hadn't already noticed. I plan on darkening the contour lines in the background, but since I don't have time to do that I just posted what it currently looks like.

Self Portrait

An aviator-esque self portrait I did in my first life drawing class in Spring 2008.

The paper I used was actually a really light blue toned paper, but even with photoshop I couldn't get it to look quite right, so just imagine it as a pretty colored paper instead.

Map Ideas for Project 1

So, I know this isn't exaclty a map, but I think if you organize various symbols in the same way it could have a really cool effect with the images getting smaller and smaller on the way down.

The color wheel is KINDA like a map right? I mean...it has layers and various levels...

October constellation map! :D

Map of space.

A really aweome and intricate map of the Chakras.
Sorry I'm a bit late on this post, I totally missed the announcement, and didn't find out about it until Friday. I'll be posting some of my work up as soon as I can get my most recent stuff touched up a bit and photographed.

     Hope you enjoy.

Welcome to my World!

Hi!

My name is Arden and I'm an Illustration student creating a blog for my art for the first time! How exciting!

This blog is actually a part of a larger class project, so I'll be posting my work up as I complete it throughout the semester.

I hope you all will enjoy my many posts to come!
